Elizabeth, “Lizzie”, DelPozzo of Pembroke, Massachusetts was born on December 27th, 2012 alongside her twin brother Anthony Jr., TJ, to parents Tracey and Anthony.
Since birth, it was clear to Tracey and Anthony that Lizzie was consistently smaller and meeting milestones later in comparison to her twin and other children her age. Tracey and Anthony consistently brought their concerns to Lizzie’s doctors. For years, Lizzie’s care team diagnosed her as experiencing joint laxity, and asymmetric deformational plagiocephaly. Lizzie was involved in early intervention and physical therapy with little to no improvement. This lack of improvement sent Tony and Tracey on a mission to find answers and treatment.
In 2022 , they were presented with an affordable DNA genetics testing option that could finally reveal Lizzie’s condition.
After nearly ten years, on September 6th 2022, Lizzie was diagnosed with Collagen 6 Muscular Dystrophy.
Collagen 6 Muscular Dystrophy is a progressive, non-curable disease which causes muscle weakness in the fingers, wrists, elbows, ankles and respiratory system. A devastating diagnosis for the family, we’re on a mission to raise funds for the services Lizzie will need as her condition progresses, and awareness for all the families living this reality alongside Lizzie.
Please follow along and invite your friends to follow for opportunities to help support Lizzie. We’re so looking forward to connecting with you.
